1:09HostYeah, hello. Well, today we are recording right now in front of Flex in Vienna and today it's your first gig on tour because the previous two gigs were unfortunately canceled. Somebody got sick, but it's going to be rescheduled for October, I think, right?
1:38HostI mean, this episode will come out in one week or two weeks, you know, so it'll be enough time. I mean, people can, we'll figure it out.
1:49HostBecause I checked it out and it's already like they were working on the tickets. All good, you know? Oh, yeah. Yeah, but why I'm asking you this is because today is your first gig. Yeah, yeah. I'm happy to be there for your first gig of the tour.
2:05HostHow are you feeling about it? Nervous a bit?
2:28HostWe're just recording after your soundcheck. Like now. Yeah. Because you said feel better after, I mean, is it like first for everybody to play? Or what do you mean that feels better after a soundcheck? How it goes the set list today?
2:55HostAll right. So today is an experimental gig. You know, but that's easy in a way. Like, even if you fuck up, well, it was like a first gig, so it's fine.
3:09HostEverybody fucks up. It's not about that.
3:14HostBut for the people, you know, unfortunately, they don't know that it's so experimental, let's say, like this. But it would be, you know, it's a unique experience.
3:26HostThe new album, Andromeda, right? It's my favorite album. Oh, nice. Yes. It's my favorite album. And I think you got everything. Because, like, when I was listening to your stuff before, I liked the music, but it was not clicking on emotional level. Oh, yeah.
3:43HostIt's good, but not on emotional level.
3:45?Yeah.
3:45HostAnd this one, I think it's really not funky, because everybody is using funky words. Oh, yeah. But I say groovy. Groovy, yeah, nice.
3:53?Yeah, yeah, yeah.
3:54HostI think everything in this album clicked real nice. Oh, thanks. I think, is it like the first time you worked with a producer with Mario?
4:23?Yeah.
4:49HostSo, what was missing? Like, what space did they feel?
5:04HostFor this album, right?
5:23HostSo, you got lost in your own material. Totally.
5:27HostYeah, well, it happens, you know. Yeah. You need some outside perspective to get it right. Like, just to understand what's good or not. Yeah. You're so lost, you don't know.
6:05HostAnd you went to pain.
6:09HostI know, personal emotions, you went to pain, too. Like, the hardcore pain. It's like, it's like, it's in your way, you decided to do a death metal album.
6:19HostAbout Steaming Satellite's way.
6:42HostBut did you play those songs or new songs live before? Like, in the last five months after the...
6:50HostToday is one of the few times when you're going to play new stuff live.
7:12HostIt's not the right atmosphere for the new stuff at the festivals.
7:24HostWell, I mean, your music is like, it's more like, okay, let's do it like this. It's not like ACDC music, right? ACDC is like a stadium, like shouting out, yeah, yeah. Yours is more spiritual, emotional, deep into your heart, vibe together. Are there festivals is a little bit too open, maybe? I don't know.
8:19HostWell, it's organizational pressure, and you're just part of the huge machine, in a way.
8:41HostBut, you know, like, I saw, I listened to an interview with The Black Keys and the drummer, right? Yeah. He said that festivals are easier for him, because over the years he developed anxiety. Oh, yeah. And when it's, like, really personal, he starts to feel anxious. And when there is, like, a huge distance in the festival, he's like, I don't give a shit. You can't even see people, you know. Ah, okay. Yeah, so it's different.
9:10HostOh, yeah, it's about how you approach it.
9:14HostJust wear, like, double, triple sunglasses so you can't see anything. Yeah. And that's it. And you are not worried about anything, I guess. I don't know.
9:47HostOh, there is no contact with the audience, with the eyes.
9:54HostLike, the audience member can't say, oh, my God, he looked at me, maybe.
10:04HostCreativity, the visual creativity. Yeah. Yeah, but, all right. So, let's talk more about the pain.
10:12?Mm, yeah.
10:13HostThe pain, it's like, what we're talking about, it's because, of course, I did research and I know what you're talking about. It's about the album, right? Where you went. So, can you tell us, where did you go mentally?
10:49HostBut you mean, like, well, like, creatively or live, everything together, or just, it was not clicking creatively, musically, or everything together.
11:39?Yeah, yeah, maybe.
11:42HostI smell depression.
11:52HostDid you go heavy on alcohol?
12:27HostFucked up situation.
12:39HostCan you be my therapist?
12:53HostI see the pattern here, okay.
12:57HostAndromeda, yes, what does it mean? Really? No, but actually... There is a, the light in the front of you, a navigation for stars, a bullshit, no, it's all about something inside of you.
14:00HostDid, did, did, did the guys, when they were, like, uh, reading the lyrics, like, dude, you're fucked up, man, like, you seriously need to, like, record this and get out of it, like, like, move on, man.
14:21HostEverybody's getting old.
14:38HostSpotlight in the band, contribution, who's, who, whose ideas.
15:03HostSince 2005.
15:04?Yeah, oh, yeah.
15:06?Yeah, and the, the band started, and actually, we, we had, like, 15 different, uh, band members in that period of time, and stuff like that. And, it, yeah, it, it, it's, uh, it's, it's actually a long journey, and we were about to give it up. And, and, but gladly, we decided to, hey, let's try it again, and, and let's, uh, you know, get, get, get, get ourselves together.
15:46HostSo, it worked out better than your relationship.
15:55HostWho's more better, you, who, the band, or me? Yeah, I mean, yeah. Girl, come on.
16:05HostOh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. So, I had my doubts. Jay Leno said, like, if, if, if she gets between you and the comedy, find a new girlfriend.
17:06Hostwell it's it's a hope that's hopefully it's it's it's it's time it's like that yeah yeah do the
17:19Hostregarding uh the egos and uh the bands having problems i mean i interview bands and they all have this at some point the situation yeah and usually what they do is they go on a pause and everybody's doing their own personal project yeah then they got the ego out in their own person and then they come back together like relaxed and then yeah so it's maybe one of the ways but nothing it's
17:59Hosti can see it in your music yeah yeah i mean you're talking about it in each interview yeah yeah it's basically the album is to share uh your pain with the audience to talk so audience is your personal therapist yeah and they they basically pay so that you can get better in a way yeah it's it's pretty
18:38Hostlike like like commercial shit or something this is a real emotional album yeah it's a real deal yeah yeah yeah yeah all right so what's the plan now because we need to wrap it wrap this out yeah um today or like so you're gonna play the the tour uh so i mean as i understand it just came out
19:05Hostbecause you're european more europe based than austria yeah i mean we're we're not touring that
19:12?you know but we we're uh main focus is like switzerland germany austria because um we right now we we really need to get some money you know and when we we have really high costs when we go somewhere and
19:45Hostnot gonna bother you too much which song should i put at the end of this interview of steaming satellites a good introduction to your band how deep can we cut
